I'm Maria ..., I took your American History class in La Mirada High in, I believe, 1998 or 1999. I was a foreign exchange student from Estonia. I am a lawyer now, living and working in New York City. I came to visit my host parents here in La Mirada, and on a trip back memory lane, thought to drop you, one of my favorite teachers from back then, a line. Hope you are doing well, and that both the NFL and La Mirada High have been good to you over the years.

Maria: What a wonderful surprise! A lawyer, Yikes! In New York? Wow! How wonderful to hear from you. It sounds as if you have done rather well for yourself? I can't believe that you not only remembered me but thought enough to write. Thank you!
I'm doing quite well myself with both my teaching at LMHS and the NFL. As a matter of fact, I will be leaving tomorrow for my first game of the pre-season in Cleveland of all places. If I ever get a game in New York I will drop you a line and maybe we could have lunch?
I've still got your photo sitting in my cabinet next to my desk and kids are always asking who you are and I tell them that you were an exchange student from Estonia. Of course they don't know where that is until we study the after effects of the Great War and post WWII Europe and the Cold War. They think you are really brave to have journeyed so far to gain an expanded education. Obviously, it's paid off?
I'll look forward to hearing from you again.

A., nagu enamus "real LA people", ei l2inud peale keskkooli ylikooli ja t66tab nyyd mitte just eriti huvitaval - eriti h2sti tasustatud kohal. "Suureks saades" tahab k6hutantsijaks saada. Alati on kergelt shokeeriv m6ista, et minu maailm, kus inimestel on mitu kraadi, haridus on s6ber (ja hea ajat2ide, kui puudub aim, mida eluga tegelikult peale hakata) ja raha pole probleem, ei olegi k6igi maailm. Hariduslik taust vaatamata, oli meil A.-ga ikka tore.
Vanemad
On ju tore omada LA-s kodu ja vanemaid, kes lisaks the usual kuidas t66l-koolis l2heb/poissi ka on jms uurivad, millal ikka j2lle kylla tullakse. Sealsed vanemad v22riksid omaette sissekannet, nad on ikka p2ris humoorikad. Aga syda on 6ige koha peal.
New places to go, new people to see
Lisaks LA/Orange County koduymbrusele k2isime Malibus (vist ng LA Hamptonid) rannas, Beverly Hills'is window shoppingul, ja Hollywoodile tegime risti-p6iki tuuri peale. Ja nagu mulle meeldib, k2isime seal, kus kohalikud (ng. A. poiss) elavad-h2ngivad, nii et Chinese Theater jms seekord kavva ei mahtunud.
